چکیده

The study analysed the historical (1961–90) and projected rainfall variability for rainy season expected in near future (2021–50) at selected locations within Komadugu-Yobe Sokoto-Rima River Basins Sudano-Sahelian zone of northern Nigeria. Three models were utilised, analyses based on Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5. Projected changes mean, level distribution using Relative Percentage Change Method Precipitation Index (PCI), while performance was evaluated Nash–Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) index. results show that mean will be predominantly negative, with a minimum maximum change ˗1.02 per cent Nguru, ˗70.4 Jos, IPSL-CM5A HadGEM2-ES models, respectively. baseline period varied between low moderate variability, ranges high levels variability. validation indicates acceptable performance, most values ranging 0.0 1.0. PCI suggests mainly characterised by uniform near-uniform distribution. Hence, negative some call development an Adaptive Benefit Mechanism minimise natural resource conflicts.

Artificial neural network for modeling reference evapotranspiration complex process in Sudano-Sahelian zone

The major problem when dealing with modeling evapotranspiration process is its nonlinear dynamic high complexity. Researchers developed reference evapotranspiration (ET-ref) estimationmodels in rich and poor data situations. Thus, the well-known Penman–Monteith (PM) model always performs the highest accuracy results of ET-ref from a rich data situation. Its application in many areas particularl...

Remote Sensing of Woodland Structure and Composition in the Sudano-Sahelian zone : Application of WorldView-2 and Landsat 8

Woodlands constitute the subsistence base of the majority of people in the Sudano-Sahelian zone (SSZ). Trees and grasses provide key ecosystem goods and services, including soil protection, fuelwood, food products and fodder. However, climate change in combination with rapidly increasing populations and altered land use practices put increasing pressure on the vegetation cover in this region. L...

the study of bright and surface discrete cavity solitons dynamics in saturable nonlinear media

Analysis of 1982-2006 Sudano-sahelian Vegetation Dynamics Using Noaa-avhrr Ndvi Data and Normalized Rain-use Efficiency

Land cover dynamic has to be taken into account to analyze changes in water resources, especially in vulnerable environment such as the Bani catchment in Mali. To study the land cover changes, we used NDVI AVHRR time series (1982-2006, 8 km spatial resolution), and monthly rainfall data from 65 stations. To interpret the NDVI trends in terms of land cover changes, we had to eliminate the inter-...

A dynamic simulation model of land-use changes in Sudano-sahelian countries of Africa (SALU)

This paper presents a simulation model to project land-cover changes at a national scale for Sudano-sahelian countries. The aim of this study is to better understand the driving forces of land-use change and to reconstruct past changes. The structure of our model is heavily determined by its spatially aggregated level. This model represents, in a dynamic way, a simplified version of our current...
